The CSC  Property is located just west of the town of Stelle on the northern tip of Ford County, Illinois. We intend to spread the messages of self-sustainability and community through action and demonstration, while offering citizens the opportunity to participate and learn through hands-on interaction.

The CSC property has a one-acre pond, 115-tree fruit orchard, large community garden, organic egg-hen operation and many small demonstrative and experimental operations in full function. For more information, visit our Projects and Co-ops pages.

Feel free to get involved by donating your time or by making a financial contribution to this not-for-profit organization.
The Mission of the CSC Land Committee:
To facilitate projects and activities on the CSC land that demonstrate and strive toward the ideal of sustainability.
It is our objective to:
-Respect the land as a sacred place.
-Do all that we can do to promote the diversity and abundance of  the ecology on the land.
-Endeavor to improve the soil's fertility and texture.
-Renovate each older building or structure to encourage activity beneficial to the land.
-Support focused attention through adopt-a-plot gardening, adopt-a-tree, and a children's         garden.
-Support the working together of volunteers using the co-op concept.
-Feature new innovations in gardening, orchard development, and poultry that can serve as      demonstration models.
-Enhance the  land's walking environment as a place to enjoy, relax, and commune with            nature.
-Improve the  property  with an aim of creating an enhanced "outdoor classroom" for school    groups.
-Understand and utilize permaculture design where possible.
-Encourage the use of renewable energy where possible.

The Vision of the CSC Land Committee:
It is a sacred responsibility to act as stewards and nurture the property west of the Stelle residential community, knowing that the land stands as an ecological island oasis in the middle of a monoculture corn and soybean ocean.
